Advantages & Typical Applications

Slotted hexagon head plastic screws are widely used in components that require tool-driven fastening and torque control, especially where maintainability is important. Compared with metal screws, engineering plastic screws can provide:

  • Corrosion resistance and chemical resistance
  • (for chemical equipment and wet process systems).
  • Electrical insulation and low thermal conductivity
  • (for electrical modules, control boxes, and sensor mounting).
  • Lightweight design and metal-ion control
  • (for semiconductor, precision tools, and special processes).
  • Self-lubrication, low wear, or low particle generation
  • (material-dependent, e.g., TPI, PTFE, PFA).

By selecting the right engineering plastic, you can optimise performance based on service temperature, chemical media, mechanical load, and cleanliness requirements.

Material Selection Scenarios

High-temperature Applications

For long-term operation around 150–260°C with thermal cycling, evaluate PEEK, PEEK+GF, PPS, PPS+GF, self-lubricating TPI, PTFE, and PFA.

Chemical Resistance & Semiconductor Wet Processes

For acids/alkalis, oxidisers, organic solvents, and wet chemical processes, consider PVDF, PTFE, PFA, PCTFE, and selected grades of PEEK/PPS for a balance of chemical resistance and structural strength.

Self-lubrication, Low Friction & Lightweighting

When you need to reduce wear, minimise particles, or avoid external lubrication, self-lubricating TPI, PTFE, and certain engineering plastics can provide low friction and stable performance.

※ The “Long-term Service Temperature” below is for general reference; final selection depends on part geometry, load, chemical media, and environment.

Engineering Plastics Material Guide | Temperature Range & Applications

Material selection: multiple options available depending on environment and temperature requirements.

PEEK | Long-term Service Temperature: 240°C

PEEK is a semi-crystalline engineering plastic with excellent toughness, stiffness, creep resistance, and radiation resistance, suitable for high-temperature and chemical process applications.

PEEK screws, nuts, and precision parts are widely used in semiconductor equipment, aerospace, automotive electronics, oil & gas, medical devices, and food processing equipment.

PPS | Long-term Service Temperature: 200°C

PPS is a high-performance thermoplastic with heat resistance, corrosion resistance, and strong mechanical properties, offering electrical performance and dimensional stability for electronics, automotive, and chemical machinery parts.

PVDF | Long-term Service Temperature: 150°C

PVDF is a fluoropolymer featuring excellent chemical resistance, weatherability, heat resistance, electrical insulation, and wear properties—ideal for acids/alkalis, wet processes, and chemical industry equipment parts.

PP | Long-term Service Temperature: 90°C

PP provides good tensile properties, chemical resistance, hydrolysis resistance, and electrical performance, suitable for chemical environments as well as food and pharmaceutical machinery components.

PPGF | Long-term Service Temperature: 120°C

PPGF is PP reinforced with glass fibre for higher strength, providing chemical resistance, high purity, low water absorption, good electrical insulation, and improved heat resistance.

PPS+GF | Long-term Service Temperature: 240°C

PPS reinforced with glass fibre improves strength and heat resistance, offering corrosion resistance, strong mechanical properties, electrical performance, and dimensional stability for electronics, automotive, and chemical machinery applications.

RENY | Long-term Service Temperature: 105°C

RENY is a heat-resistant nylon engineering plastic reinforced with glass fibre, featuring oil resistance and heat resistance for automotive, machinery, precision components, electrical/electronic equipment, and construction materials.

PVC | Long-term Service Temperature: 60°C

PVC offers acid/alkali resistance, good electrical insulation, strong mechanical properties, and weatherability—often used for chemical process components as well as construction, packaging, medical, wire & cable, and outdoor equipment parts.

TPI (Self-lubricating) | Long-term Service Temperature: -269~280°C

TPI provides excellent heat resistance, wear resistance, friction performance under high pressure/high speed, low outgassing under high vacuum, strong chemical resistance, outstanding dimensional stability, and low conductivity.

PTFE | Long-term Service Temperature: -190~260°C

PTFE is a fluoropolymer resistant to most chemicals and solvents, widely used in high-temperature, chemical, electrical, mechanical, and aerospace applications due to its electrical properties, non-stick surface, and lubricity.

PCTFE (Long-term Service Temperature: -200~200°C) :

PCTFE is a fluoropolymer featuring low permeability, chemical resistance, and a wide temperature range, commonly used in semiconductor process equipment parts.

PEEK+GF | Long-term Service Temperature: 260°C

PEEK reinforced with glass fibre increases stiffness and heat resistance up to 260°C, suitable for applications requiring heat resistance, chemical resistance, and flame retardancy (V-0).

PFA | Long-term Service Temperature: 260°C

PFA provides wide temperature resistance (-200°C to 260°C), chemical resistance, weatherability, and strong mechanical properties, widely used in pharmaceutical equipment and semiconductor wet process equipment parts.

NYLON | Long-term Service Temperature: 70°C

Nylon offers heat resistance, high strength and hardness, wear resistance, and low friction, commonly used in mechanical engineering, food technology, electronics, aerospace, and automotive equipment.
