The primary function of a valve plate is to control gas flow, making it a critical component in petrochemical compressors. These compressors operate under high temperature, high pressure, and corrosive environments, where efficiency and long service life are essential.
Valve plates can be manufactured from different materials, such as: Steel , Non-metallic materials: e.g., PEEK (Polyether Ether Ketone), PA (Polyamide), or Fiber reinforced composites.
Why Use PEEK Valve Plates? • High temperature and pressure resistance: Withstands up to ~250°C for long-term operation. • Excellent chemical resistance:Resists acids, alkalis, organic solvents, and hydrocarbons. • High strength and toughness: Handles cyclic fatigue at high speed without cracking. • Self-lubricating and wear resistant:Performs in low-oil or oil-free conditions with minimal wear. • Lightweight: Lighter than metal, reducing energy consumption and mechanical load.
In petrochemical compressor applications, PEEK is often reinforced with Glass Fiber (GF) or Carbon Fiber (CF) to enhance material performance: PEEK + GF: Offers excellent chemical resistance and dimensional stability, suitable for wet, acidic, alkaline, or corrosive gas environments. PEEK + CF: Provides high strength, fatigue resistance, and wear performance, making it ideal for high-frequency, high-pressure, high-temperature, and dry-gas applications.
